Bethany Ramsey

Bethany trained at The Royal Ballet School and has since worked with The Royal Ballet, Vienna Festival, Ijad Dance, ROH2 (The Red Balloon) London Ballet Theatre (125th anniversary for Bulgari, Dubai), Grange Park Opera (Rusalka) and Matthew Bourne`s New Adventures (principal role in Edward Scissorhands, international tour)

She has also worked with Jennifer Jackson (Unwrapped, In the reveal and most recently The Encounters project for English National Ballet, including performances at the V&A, The Old Lecture Theatre in conjunction with The Diaghilev and The Ballet Russes exhibition.) and Susie Crow (The Soldier`s Tale, Long Hot Summer, Black Maria for Sadler`s Wells and most recently a regional tour of Inside Out and Commedia).

Bethany is also involved in the Pembroke Arts project where she danced four major roles in “Va Va Viola!” She co-founded, choreographed and danced for her own company Neophilia, performing Woman at The Place in 2004. Her film credits include The Phantom of the Opera (2003).

Bethany is a former head of Ballet at Ravenscourt Theatre School and currently teaches at Trinity Laban on the CAT scheme. Bethany’s previous teaching experience includes working for London Children’s Ballet on their outreach programme ‘Dance Inspire’ and has been Ballet Mistress for ‘The Ballet Shoes’ tour in 2011. She has taught Ballet for nursery children at Montessori Nursery, Notting Hill. She takes great joy in teaching open classes for adults and is currently doing so at Laine Theatre Arts, she set up Ballet classes for ‘Making Colliers Wood Happy’ in 2006 and has also established open and private lessons local to her in Ashtead, Surrey. She still studies with Roger Tully and Patrick Wood.

Richard Ramsey

Richard photo ITD 2013Richard trained at the Hammond School and English National Ballet School. He joined the Royal Ballet in 1998 under the direction of Sir Anthony Dowell. He performed there for 11 and a half years, dancing a wide variety of repertoire both at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and many other theatres around the world, including the Bolshoi in Moscow, the Maryinsky in St Petersburg and the Opera House in Paris.

During his time at the Royal Ballet Richard performed in such ballets as Swan Lake (Cadets and Spanish), Romeo and Juliet (Friar Lawrence), Beatrix Potter (Pigs), Giselle (Wilfred) and many more ballets by legendary choreographers Frederick Ashton and Kenneth MacMillan. He also worked with some renowned modern choreographers including Mark Baldwin, Siobhan Davis and Matz Ek. Richard had roles created for him in Matjash Mrozewski’s Castle Nowhere and Vanessa Fenton’s Seacastles. While at the Royal Ballet Richard was involved in many ballet filmings including Darcy Bussell’s farewell performance, which have appeared on the BBC and in Cinemas across Europe, and Documentaries about the company, most recently their tour to Cuba.

During his performance career Richard has also appeared with the English National Ballet, danced in the film Acts of Godfrey, appeared in Hollyoaks and has modelled with Kate Moss.

Richard transitioned into teaching in 2009 and is currently employed as Male Ballet teacher at Laine Theatre Arts. Previous employment includes 1st Year Tutor at English National Ballet School and Middle and Senior Boys Associate teacher at The Royal Ballet School. He has also taught for many years at various summer schools and education events, including The Wells Summer School, Legat Easter course, Chelsea Ballet Summer School and Master classes and outreach programmes in Kent and Philadelphia (USA). Richard also works regularly for the ISTD teaching on event days. He has also adjudicated for the ISTD and All England Dance.
